Pampering at Trade Shows is a Big Hit

Seth Gardner | | 12 July 2007

A Nashville, TN Trade Show company recently produced a spa-like event for one of their clients at trade show.

A whopping 71% of invited prospects and customers attended the event – including some of the largest “case studies” and “reference” customers for their competition.

Buzz from the spa event continued at the trade show as the attendees came by the booth for more information. The client declared the event an overwhelming success, so much so that they mentioned it in its quarterly Earnings Call. In a post-show memo to employees, the Director of Sales said that the event helped make them the “It” company of the show.

Rare Website Goes For Sale On Auction Site

Seth Gardner | | 22 April 2007

Most websites that are being sold today are junk sites with questionable traffic. That’s what makes this auction so unique. FamilyResource.com has been put on auction and is positioned as the “golden egg” of website auctions. The auction includes a site that’s 11-years-old, has one of the highest AdSense click through rates in the industry, and even comes with lifetime hosting.

BaseJumpr: Set Your (Basecamp) Data Free

Seth Gardner | | 27 January 2007

BaseJumpr gives your projects freedom. Use BaseJumpr to export your Basecamp project data and files and host them on activeCollab , an open source project management solution similar to Basecamp.

BaseJumpr’s activeCollab hosting service is unique, because it offers unlimited files at a fraction of the cost of Basecamp. I found their service to be very fast and stable. Also, since it’s running open source software, and 37 Signals is notoriously slow at updating Basecamp with any useful updates, I fully expect activeCollab to surpass Basecamp in features by the end of the year.

Chegg - Like a Keg, but Pulpier

Seth Gardner | | 25 January 2007

Publishers, distributors and booksellers have long enjoyed making the purchase of college textbooks as painful as possible. They have always been notoriously overpriced and I know for a fact that the authors of these books — usually active professors — don’t see much of the profits.

What’s a poor college student to do? Go to Chegg of course! Although there’s been several companies that have attempted to sell college books on-the-cheap (by selling used books), Chegg is the first company to gain real traction among students. Instead of buying back and reselling college texts, they’re facilitating the transaction between the student seller and the student buyer. The result? More money for the seller and less money out of the pocket of the buyer.
